Saint Adele, Quebec 2018-19
It was the winter of 2018-19 when I wrote this Facebook post in February — a phenomenal year for snow in our Laurentian village in Quebec:
“Oh for heaven’s sake, enough already. The eyes of the home across the street — which are barely visible over our hedge of shovelled snow, are almost closed now. There is little visibility from the windows of this Quebec home. It has — again — been snowing for about 24 hours straight and we have shovelled the walk and vehicle about 4 times just to keep life outside accessible. This has been a hell of a ride, not exactly what I expected when I came seeking a ‘snowy winter experience’ near to my dear friend, and I will agree that I am happy to be moving on to New York this week. STILL, I would not change it if I could — it has been an invigorating, stimulating experience!” And Cajou, chien extraordinaire, so very loving and with never a hair out of place!❄️

It was a fun and beautiful time! Feeling a little nostalgic…..

Hi Kath,
Our snowmegedon was in 1996 that dumped 40” in 24 hrs. That was straight down without the drifts that you had and nowhere near the temperature either. The driveway was a paved 150 foot drive. Shovelled that down to the road which hadn’t yet been plowed thinking I still can’t get out. Being out in the country there was no expectation of anything happening any time soon. This was Sunday afternoon with work the next day. 6:30 am Monday morning the plow hit our Cul de Sac gave the one quick pass and I was away. Got to work but it didn’t really matter as everything was totally shut down so spent the day shovelling sidewalks for the cause!
