In the fall of 2015, we began our travels in Southeast Asia, moving through nine countries in about nine months: Bali & Gili Air, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Nepal. While I do not describe every country here, I did interview individuals in several of the countries who had had extraordinary experiences. A monk in Thailand, a 2004 tsunami survivor in Sri Lanka, a family of 2014 earthquake survivors in Nepal – all had fascinating stories to tell, and their stories are covered in Encounters Asia, along with the highs and lows (pun intended) of our five day Poon Hill trek in the mountains of Nepal.
